I’ve lived them so I’m here to spill the beans.
3 causes of burnout that no one talks about:
1) The micromanager.
This wreaks havoc on our nervous system because we’re living on eggshells.
A missed phone call or incoming email, basically anything, feels like a threat.
2) Poor sleep.
Trouble falling asleep because of a racing mind,
Or we can’t stay fully asleep. We’re slightly awake and on edge.
3) Misaligned workplace values.
Organizations that say one thing but do another.
Actions > Words.
I underestimated the impact of these.
Individually they can seem unthreatening,
But when combined and other factors are in the mix,
Trust me, it’s a recipe for burnout.
